Student Grants

If you are a student interested in attending ISWC 2020, you may be eligible to apply for a grant to support the cost of attending. This year, grants are funded by the Semantic Web Science Association (SWSA).

Applying for a Student Grant

The deadline to apply for an ISWC 2020 Student Grant is of the following types:

a) Type-1 application: for students with a paper accepted in the main conference tracks (Research/ In-use/ Resource), or Doctoral Consortium: Sep 4

b) Type-2 application: for students with a paper accepted in a workshop, poster/demo track, or challenge track and otherwise, for student participants at the conference: Sep 15

c) Type-3 application: for any student (without paper acceptance as well) interested in participating at the conference: Oct 11

Please make sure that you have submitted your application and that your supervisor has sent us a confirmation email by this date.

To apply for a grant please follow these steps:

1. Make sure that you are eligible to apply for an ISWC 2020 Student Grant: You must (a) currently be a student at a higher education institution, and (b) you must have an ISWC 2020 submission that has been accepted to either the main conference, the doctoral consortium, an ISWC 2020 workshop, the poster/demo session or the Semantic Web challenge (you may have submissions to more than one of these categories). If there are additional funds available, we will also consider supporting students who do not have papers at the conference.

2. Fill out and submit the ISWC 2020 Student Grant Award Application Form.

3. Ask your supervisor to email us (iswc.student.coordinators@gmail.com), confirming that you are a current student under their supervision and that you will be attending ISWC 2020. The subject of the email should be “ISWC 2020 Student Grant Award Application Verification for {YOUR NAME}”. The text should read “I confirm that {YOUR NAME} is a student that is currently under my supervision at {INSTITUTION NAME} and that she/he will be attending ISWC 2020 to present work that she/he completed under my supervision. {SUPERVISOR NAME}” for type-1 and type-2 applications, and “I confirm that {YOUR NAME} is a student that is currently under my supervision at {INSTITUTION NAME} and that she/he will be attending ISWC 2020. {SUPERVISOR NAME}” for type-3 application.

You will receive a notification based on the type of applications:

a) Notification for student grant application Type-1: Sep 11

b) Notification for student grant application Type-2: Sep 25

c) Notification for student grant application Type-3: Oct 16 

Awardees will receive a  CODE  that will allow them to register for free. You should not register before receiving this code.

Award Details

This year, we will be covering registration costs for all students who are awarded this grant. Preference will be given to students that are first authors on papers accepted to the main conference or the doctoral consortium, followed by those who are first authors on papers accepted to ISWC workshops and the Poster & Demo session.
